Vintage & Out-of-Print Fabric Buying Guide

Shopping for a vintage or out-of-print fabric? Start with the individual listing for measurements, ordering units, and any special notes. Details vary by fabric.

How should I assess condition?

Read the description and examine the listing photos before ordering. Vintage or out-of-print describes a fabric’s age or availability, not a condition grade. If you need confirmation about wear, washing history, storage marks, or suitability for your project, email Info@Tx2QuiltShop.com before purchasing.

What about the selvedge?

The selvedge (also spelled selvage) is the finished edge along the length of the fabric. Do not assume that a listing’s width excludes it, or that it will be trimmed off. Ask us to confirm the selvedge and usable printed width if those details matter for your project.

Could there be flaws?

Check photos and descriptions for any noted marks or irregularities. Potential issues with vintage fabric can include fading, discoloration, small holes, or printing irregularities; this does not mean every piece has these issues. Photos may not reveal every detail. If a particular flaw would affect your plans, ask before ordering rather than assuming the fabric is flawless.

Will the color match my screen or existing fabric?

Lighting and screen settings can change how colors appear. Do not rely on a photo for an exact match to fabric you already own. Contact us before purchasing if color matching is important.

How will my fabric be cut?

Our yardage listings generally specify a continuous cut when you order multiple half-yard units. Read the individual listing for exceptions: remaining inventory may require separate pieces, and end-of-bolt pieces have their own measurements. If your project requires one uninterrupted length, confirm any special cutting notes before ordering. Contact us if the cutting method itself matters to your project.

How much does one quantity unit buy?

For listings marked SOLD BY THE HALF YARD, quantity 1 = ½ yard (18 inches long), quantity 2 = 1 yard, and quantity 3 = 1½ yards. EOB means end of bolt; an EOB listing may instead offer a specific measured piece. Always follow that item’s stated unit and dimensions.
